London Wool Sales

LONDON, July 23. During the London series of wool sales, 79,200 bales were offered and GB.OOO sold, including 33,000 bales of New Zealand wool. The tendency throughout had a firm tone, and competition was strong compared with the closing rates of last series. Prices were from par to occasionally five per cent lower. A total of 37,000 bales of Australian and 28,500 bales of New Zealand has been held over. On the final day, 8144 bales were offered, including 4028 bales of New Zealand, and 7225 bales were sold. Competition was again active for a moderate selection, and rates firm. New Zealand greasy halfbreds, “3 in circle,” averaged lOd per lb., to price 11 3 d; slipe half bred lambs, “Fairfield,” 9Jd to 16d; “Longburn,” 12£d.
