Pitcairn Islanders In Pitiful Plight
(Received 2-30 p.m.) NEW YORK, July 20. Mrs. Dorothy Hall, a wireless amateur, who constantly communicates with Mr. Andrew Young, wireless operator on Pitcairn Island, says she is informed by the British Consul that Pitcairn Islanders are facing destitution, due to a rumour that typhoid is raging on the island, which is causing all vessels to keep off. For six weeks there has not been a landing of any supplies. The islanders insist there is no foundation for the typhoid reports and are in a pitiable plight.
