Whangarei Girls’ High School

Acting upon offer which he made to the Whangarei High School Parents’ Association, Mr. L. J. Brake, when in Wellington this week attending the meeting of the National Council of Health and Recreation, waited upon educational authorities concerning the state of the girls’ school and hostel, which have been the subject of strong criticism recently. He was unable to meet the Minister, the Hon. P. Fraser, but conferred with Mr. A. C. Lambourne, the Director of Education. “Mr. Lambourne said the department was as fully seized as local people of the importance and urgency of the building programme outlined.” Mr. Brake told a “Northern Advocate” representative today. “The great difficulty to be faced was the shortage of skilled men to do the work, but everything possible was being done to facilitate the matter.” ,
