Awanui Wharf Congestion
(From Our Own Correspondent). KAITAIA. This Day. Requesting improvements to the Awanui wharf a deputation from the Kaitaia Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, waited on the Awanui Harbour Board at the latter's meeting on Wednesday. The deputation comprised Messrs E. R. Bird and N, A. Mclntosh. Mr Bird drew attention to the increased trade at Awanui. which had resulted in congestion during the past few months. Plans for suggested improvements were being made, he said, and these would shortly bo available for the board’s consideration. The secretary said that plans should be submitted before the board gave its consent. They would have to be submitted also to the Marine Department for formal approval. Mr Mclntosh said they would appreciate an indication that the board would agree when the plans were laid before it. Mr. J. N. Berghan: There should be uo objection to a progressive scheme. • No objection was raised by the boaid, the chairman informing the deputation that they could proceed with the plans without anv misgivings.
