Bay Oysters in Demand
[Special to ‘‘Northern Aduncate."] RUSSELL, Tills Day. Despite uncongenial weather conditions, oyster picking in the Bay of Islands is proceeding-apace. To date, 624 bags, totalling well ovoi 53,000 dozen oysters, have been picked and have found a ready sale locally and in Auckland. “In fact,’ stated the Inspector of Fisheries at Russell, Mr C. A. Gibbs. “I am finding it hard work to keep up with the demand. Wo are well ahead of last year’s figures to date, and the oysters are well grown and m good condition,'’ Of the total, 563 bags have gone to Auckland, and the remainder have boon purchased locally
