Spotlight on .... Sir Robert Craigie
The Rt. Hon. Sir Robert Leslie Craigie, who has been responsible for initiating talks between Japan and Britain, was born in 1883. Throughout his career, Sir Robert has taken an active part in diplomatic affairs, beginning when he entered the Foreign Office m 1907. Sir Robert has held some of the highest secretarial posts in phe diplomatic sphere, his final offices being that of assistant undersecretary of State in the Foreign Office, a post he filled from 1934 until 1937, and that of British Ambassador to Japan, to which he was appointed last year. Sir Robert has faced one of the most of British interests in the Orient.
