Steady Rain In Whangarei

Persistent rain has made conditions unpleasant in Whangarel today, but, though steady, the fall has not been phenomenal. In the 24 hours to 9 a.m. today, ,35in. of rain was recorded here. Later in the day the falls increased in intensity. Puddles of storm water are lying in the low parts of the town, and from the near country districts come reports that streams swelling, though not sufficient as yet to cause alarm. At the Water Street bridge the Waiorahia Stream showed little above the normal level.
