Ohaeawai v. Kawakawa

Rugby

At Ohaeawai the visiting Kawakawa team went down by a six-point margin in a game devoid of any spectacular features. Handling and kicking on both sides were of a very poor standard, Kawakawa being particularly weak on tackling, the only exception in this respect being Vic Dunlop, halfback, who played a good defensive game and went down on the ball on several occasions to stop forward rushes. Doel, in the visiting pack, was the outstanding forward on the ground. Wikaire scored the only try for Kawakawa. Ohaeawai’s try-getters were Beasley. Hudspilb and Sterling, all of whom gave a sound display. The final ■wore was 9 —3, Mr A, Me Far lane was referee.
