N.Z. Deep-Sea Anglers Form Association
[Special To “Northern Advocate'’! AUCKLAND, This Day. At a meeting held, last night, it was unanimously decided to form a New Zealand Deep-sea Anglers' Association, with headquarters in Auckland. Primary objects of the association, it was stated, were to formulate rules for the conduct of the sport, and to organise and control a deep-sea fishing contest as part of the Centennial celebrations in Auckland. A recommendation that the association should take the necessary steps to affiliate with a proposed world federation of deep-sea fishing associations, with which clubs in England, the United States and Australia arc likely to be associated, was adopted. Mangawai Club Represented. Sir Ernest Davis was appointed patron. Dr. T. H. Pettit president, and Mr V. Salek was appointed secretary. Vice-presidents appointed included Messrs. J. Mowlenr, S. Ellis, A. E. Bissett. J. McGregor, H. J. Court, and Dr. W. H. Horton. Mr D. Harwood was appointed to represent the Mangawai Deep-Sea Club on the committee, and it was resolved to ask other clubs to nominate representatives.
