Rep. Rugby in Bay Area
Arrangements for various representative fixtures in the Northern Rugby sub-union districts were made at the monthly-meeting of the Bay of Islands Rugby Union, presided over by Mr A. C. J. Carr. No representative fixtures will be played until after July 30, when the Bay competitions should be completed. Subject to there being no clash with, shield matches, August 13 was tentatively fixed as the date for the match against Whangaroa at Chaeawai and August 20 for the rep. match against South’ Hokianga. A trial match will be played at Moerewa on August 6 between teams representing the four clubs in the Bay. A letter was received from the Bay of Islands Primary Schools’ Rugby Union asking that it be given the right to allocate free footballs to schools. It was pointed out that no footballs had been allocated in the Bay. although other schools, where football was not so well organised, had received them. The secretary is to write to the Primary School Association stating that the letter will be considered at the next annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union. Permission was granted to Smythe and White to play in the Whangaroa Union. J. Goodhue’s transfer from Taumarere to Maromaku was confirmed.
