SPig ! 1 Kingfishers were recently re- n a ported to be using fantails as a * whiter food. This week’s animal * jj kingdom oddity is a seagull that * * takes food out of pigs’ mouths— o 0 not without a little struggle. At g jj Maunu yesterday pigs were root- jj * mg on a choice morsel of ground, b t while about them hovered a a „ number of seagulls, t ■ As the pigs rooted up the tufts ® b of grass, the seagulls would fol- g 1 low them up searching for worms g J and other edibles. One gull, J B more daring than the rest, was B r not content with this practice g J and attached itself to a large J 8 pig as its help-mate in the food j I hunt. Each time the pig over- a g turned a colony of worms the s J gull would jump on its snout j l and, with wild screeching, de- a b mand a share of the proceeds, g j Ultimately the inevitable hap- * « pened, the partnership breaking ' n b up with a battle of screams and g g snorts by the respective parties.
