The engagement as secretarytreasurer of Mr Wallace S. Thorpe, of the Government Audit Department was made unanimously by the Bay of Islands Power Board. It will take effect as from October 1.
A farewell evening was tendered by members of the OhaeaVai R.S.A. and other friends to Mr Percy Dare,, prior to his leaving the district to take up his residence in Whangarei, At the close of the function, Mr G, Griffin, on behalf of those present, presented Mr Dare with a travelling rug. Mr Dare, who has been a keen supporter of Rugby football in the Bay, will be greatly missed in the district. He is a member of the Referees’ Association and has always been ready to fill a breach in that capacity even if it entailed considerable travelling. He will no doubt be a welcome addition to the association in Whangarei, when he takes up residence there.
