LONDON, July 18. The Australian Associated Press says that discussions have opened between Government representatives dnd Sir Edward Beatty, chairman of the Canadian Pacific Railways, in connection with the building of, two now Pacific liners. An early statement will be made, though it Is uncertain whether it will be possible to carry out completely the earlier decisions. | The delay has cost Britain and the j' Dominions dearly. Drunken Maoris Again j Three Maoris came before Justices jof the Peace at the Police Court, j Kaitaia, yesterday charged with having been found drunk in a public place. They were statutory first offenders. but the bench fined each £l. Mr. F. Rowe, in giving the decision, referred to the wasteful expenditure by Maoris on drink, and the resultant neglect of wives and children.
