Carriers’ Federation
The first annual meeting of the recently incorporated. Northland Federation of Carriers’ Associations was held at Ohacawai on Thursday last, when Mr M. Kelly, of Waima, presided over an attendance of delegates from carriers’ associations representing the entire Northland area from Waitemata to Kaitaia. , Election of officers resulted; President. Mr M. Kelly (re-elected); vicepresidents, Messrs A. Tyler-Davis (Rodney) and A. H. Stanton (Mangonui); auditor, Mr L. J. H, Wright, of the staff of Messrs Connell, Trimmer and Lamb: secretary and treasurer, Mr C. Waymouth (Whangarei). A special emergency committee was constituted to arrange, among other matters, the finalising of the projected fixed schedule of transport rates for the areas represented by the federation. The two vice-presidents, with Mr A. McFarlane. of Kaeo. and the secretary constitute this emergency committee which is also to review the finances of the federation with the object of fixing a lower and more equitable rate of subscription. It was resolved that the registered office of the federation be moved from Ohacawai to Whangarei.
