Gibb, were injured while batting for Yorkshire against Middlesex. Hutton was struck by one of Edrich’s deliveries, and had to have an X-ray taken of his hand. Gibb was hit when facing Smith, and suffered a deep cut on the head. He bled profusely, the injury requiring three stitches. The X-ray photograph revealed that Hutton has a fractured finger, and he will not be able to play in the fourth test. It is officially stated that if Gibb does not recover sufficiently from his injury, Price (Middlesex) will be wicket-keeper.
