Stronger Competition At London Wool Sales
LONDON, July 16. / At the London wool sales today 8573 bales were offered, including 2168 New Zealand, and 7547 bales were sold. A good selection met with stronger competition, owing to the improved Continental demand for Merinos. Rates were firmly maintained. The amount of new business from Yorkshire is not heavy, but the sentiment is brighter, and buyers appear to regard the current level of values at the London sales as reasonable. Some topmakers have already been informed that more generous deliveries will be required in August.
