“No Fight”: Boxing Fiasco
(Received 1.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The boxing contest at the Melbourne stadium, between Ken Overlin (U.S.Ad and Attilio Sabatino (Porta Rica) ended abruptly. After seven rounds of one of the worst boxing exhibitions presented by overseas boxers in Australia, the referee, Jack Carrol, former Australian welterweight champion. who had repeatedly told both men to put more action into their work, lifted his hands in digust, signalled "no fight” and left the ring. The crowd, which had been singing and whistling popular songs whilst the boxers sparred, cheered the referee’s decision.
