Military Ball Scores Hit
Gay with Union Jacks and smaM coloured flags, the Whangarei Town Hall presented a patriotic appearance on Tuesdav night, the occasion of the annual ball of fhe North Auckland Mounted Rifles. Masses of lycopodium and red camellias transformed the stage into a veritable garden. The colours of the N.A. Mounted Rifles and Regiment were also intermingled. On the stage were the following guns: Vickers, Lewis, Hotchkiss, and trench-mortar. There were three sittings for a sit'fo'vn supper, which was a special feature. The M.C. was Lieutenant E. V. Fry. The committee responsible for the ) ball comprised: Major H. G. Carruth, Major D. Wood, Major D. Morrison, Captain A. A. McQueen, Lieutenant Fry, and Sergeant-Major Andrews.
