Workman’s Death Due To Heart Failure
An inquest into the death of the late Mr Leo Arthur Fischer, aged 34, labourer, of Hikurangi, who died suddenly while at work on July 7, was held this morning before the district coroner, Mr H. C. Hemphill. Evidence was given by workmates of deceased, stating that until the day cf his death he had been in good health. While shovelling metal into a skip in the Hikurangi Town Board's quarry, at about 1.15 p.m., deceased was stated to have collapsed suddenly, without crying out. He had died a few minutes later. A verdict was entered in accordance with the medical evidence, namely, that deceased had died as a result of heart failure, consequent upon a persistent thymlis.
