Dairy Board’s Future
ISpeciat. to "NorxTiern Jiavocate.”'l WELLINGTON, This Day. In a valedictory speech on vacating the chairmanship of the Dairy Board, after three years of office, Mr A. J. Murdoch, of Whangarei, expressed the opir/ion that much of the credit for progressive measures within the dairy industry could be successfully claimed by the board.
Mr Murdoch said that the board’s work had changed during the last three years, but the industry still needed one body -with statutory powers to speak on its behalf, and the board, adapting itself to changed conditions, had been able to achieve much of value. “I believe that at some time the inaustry will once again assume control of its own business,” said Mr Murdoch. “I think the trials through which the industry has passed will better fit it in the future to manage its affairs successfully.”
