Hikurangi Institute In the absence of the president. Mrs Edwards. Mrs Thomas occupied the chair at the meeting of the Hikurangi branch of the Women's Institute, held cn Wednesday. A demonstration on the making of satin cushions was given by Mrs Hawkins, and was the subject of much interest. Community Sing Last night saw a crowded house for the weekly community sing, an event • which Is popular with young and old alike. During the evening, the children's choir rendered several items, ‘ which were enthusiastically received. Musical Service At Kamo Last Sunday evening a special musical service was held in the Kamo Methodist Church. The service was conducted by Mr J. Hills, who spoke on “The Gospel in Song and Story,” dealing mainly with the life of Charles Wesley. Three solos were beautifully rendered by Mr F. Moore, these being “The Stranger of Galilee,” “The Old Rugged Cross" and the hymnstudy “Nearer. Still Nearer.” Mrs McInnes officiated at the organ.
