Russian Ballet For New Zealand
(Received 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 14. J. C. Williamson (Australia and New Zealand) Theatres, Limited, has engaged the entire Covent Garden Russian Ballet Company of 70, with all costumes and scenery. They will embark on the Maloja on August 19, a week after the close of the London season. The company has a repertoire of 30 ballets, 11 of which have hitherto not been produced in Australia or New Zealand. The stars include Baranova Riabouchinska and Denissova, and among the males Lichine Petroff and Jasinsky. The running costs will be £3OOO a week, which will necessitate higher prices.
