Warwick Lose In Two Days

(Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, July 15. Australia had no difficulty in. defeating Warwickshire in two days. They declared their innings closed with 390, scored for the loss of eight wickets. Warwickshire’s second innings was practically a procession, P. Cranmer, captain of England’s Rugby team last seas,on top-scoring with a lively 37. The last wicket fell at 118, leaving the Australian victors by an innings and 93 runs. The weather was cool and cloudy, and the wicket easy. Bradman began aggressively with magnificent boundary shots, late cuts and hooks. Then a careless stroke gave an easy catch at mid-on off Mayer. He batted two hours, and hit 14 fours. It was a chanceless display, but he seemingly threw his wicket away. Brown reached his century in 220 minutes, then, jumping out to hit he was clean bowled. He hit seven fours. Barnes opened with a glorious four through the covers and continued to bat brightly. He was' unable to get the ball past keen fieldsmen and was out to a catch in the covers, mistiming a hit. Fingleton, still feeling the effects of the blow on ttye head received while fielding the first day was never himself. He simultaneously hit the wicket and was bowled. Chipperfield and Waite played soundly and carried the score along at a goo'*. rate until Chipperfield was caught at the wicket. White and O’Reilly were both out in attempting big hits. The innings was declared after 335 minutes batting. Warwickshire re-opened at 3.15 p.m. was immediately struggling to avoid an innings defeat. Three wickets were down for 16 within 20 minutes. With five down for 56 Warwickshire’s hope had vanished. Ord and Cranmer alone showed any class. Ord played stylishly while Cranmer indulged in some big hitting, including a sixer at the expense of Ward. The tail offered feeble resistance and the side was out in 130 minutes. Scores:— AUSTRALIA.
