Eradicating Willows In Borough Creeks
Eradication of willows irom the Raumanga Stream and the adjoining portion of the Wainrohia stream was reported on by the borough engineer at the last meeting of the borough council. The cost of clearing in the Raumanga Stream would be about £330 and the Waiarohia. from the junction of the two crocks to Lovers’ Lane, about £250. or a total for both streams ot £SBO. •'ll must be remembered that, while the removal of willows in those two streams above their junction would minimise flooding in those areas il would have the opposite effect at the Wbangarei Dairy Company's factory until work is commenced on widening the channel from Railway Road bridge to Caller's Avenue. Consideration of the scheme has been hold over until the proposalconcerning storm water drainage have reached finality.
