To the popular vogue of the Western film has been added the screen’s most rollicking team of comic stars in Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, who opened on Saturday night at the Plaza Theatre in the Hal Roach-M.M, fea-ture-length comedy, “Way Out West.” Sad-faced Laurel and rotund Hardy have run the gamut of age-old operas, fantastic farces and the like during the more than ten yaers they have been making the people of the world laugh, and it is only natural that they would go in for horseplay at which they have displayed such artistic genius.

“Way Out West” is fan ideal vehicle for them; one of the most hilariously funny features they have ever presented. As a pair of “tenderheel” desert prospectors in a background of the colour and thrills of the gay 90’s wild west. Laurel and Hardy romp through a succession of adventures and misadventures that sent Saturday's audience into gajes of laughter.

St'an and Ollie, in their first western. arc dumber than usual if this can be possible, and the result is a comedy stampede. They hitch-hike to town in a stage coach with a valuable goldmine deed, and then the misdeeds commence. Their natural blunders are made the basis for spotted gags that are commended for outshining anything yet exhibited by the whimsical fantasies of Laurel and Hardy.

.Specially hilarious highlights of the film are the Laurel-Hardy version of the “swing” dance, and a vocal number in which the two funsters harmonise with unique variations.
