SPRINGFIELD DEFEATS UNITED. Springfield v. Mala was the only club game played, on Saturday, all oihor fixtures giving Way In the A. and B. representative trials. Although heavy showers made the ground slippery, players set the pace to provide good entertainment in a game that was last and open. In the first half. They lacked the necessary finish, however, and did not score again. The match ended 4—l in Springfield’s favour T. Graham. S. Whisker. K. Carter and J. Palmer scoring for the victors, and B. Thomson taking United’s only goal. Messrs Johnson and Campbell were umpires.
