Practical Experience For Boys On Farms
The Whangarei Sub-Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union is endeavouring to arrange for boys attending the agricultural classes at the Whangarei High School to obtain one week’s practical farming during ( the school year on farms in the district. The plan is supported by the agricultural instructor at the school. . The names of farmers who are prepared to take a boy for one week are to be obtained, with a view to ascertaining if the scheme would be sufficiently supported. The scheme would be purely educative and would give the boys an insight into practical farm life. Mr H. R. Reward, the school instructor, is anxious'to give the boys as much practical experience as was possible, it was stated. Branch .delegates .will bring the matter up at their meetings and obtain the names of those farmers willing to take boys under the scheme.
