There was a day when prudery reigned, and it was silently agreed that sex knowledge was a banned subject. Like banned books it was sought the more eagerly, and found secretly, too often in the wrong way and from the wrong sources with consequences, more corrupting than enlightening. If one is concerned to acquaint , adolescents with sex knowledge ! cleanly and wholesomely come by, one or other of such books should offer a safe and sane medium, much saner than some of the trashy works that wrap the subject in such clouds of words that no one can be sure of what is meant, or some of the painted, half j drawn veils arranged over the sub-; joct by modern novelists, who whether j they intend or not, succeed in making J vice attractive without warning their infatuated readers against its vindictive vitality.
