MR. R. H. ALLAN IS GOVERNMENT NOMINEE ON W.H.B.
Mr R. H. Allan today received advice from the Secretary of Marine that he has been appointed by the Governor-General as Government nominee on the Whangarei Harbour Board. The appointment will date as from April 27. :,
The association of Mr Allan with the board dates from 1934 when he was appointed by the borough council as one of its representatives to replace the late Mr J. E. Holmes, who died when in office. At the local body elections in May, 1935, Mr Allan, who at the previous poll had been an unsuccessful candidate, was one of the two borough representatives returned. He is: the secretary of the Whangarei branch of the Labour Party and of the Maysden ' Labour Representation Council. Last week Mr E. L. Whimp, who has been Government representative on the board since 1929, was informed by the Minister of Marine that his reappointment had not been found possible. : - V
