Town Wharf Shed. Good progress is being made with the additions to the Town Wharf ! goods shed, and the framework for the building is now almost completed. The floor is of concrete, but the walls and roof will be of iron construction. * * * * Power for Onerahi. A start was made yesterday by the North Auckland Power Board with the erection of poles to carry power to Onerahi. The main line will reach Onerahi via Whareora, coming from Kamo. * ?.i i « * Harbour Board Picnic. The weather was perfect to-day for the annual Whangarei Harbour Board picnic. Three vessels, the Kumi, Haeremai, and Mr Jack Mason’s launch, from Onerahi, carried full complements of pleasure-seekers when they slipped away from the Town Wharf bound for Marsden Point. « is * * Chariots Go For a Ride. The Roman chariots, vehicles of so much amusement at the Whangarei Stock Show, were packed on to a plebian lorry this morning and dispatched to Dargaville, where they will be employed in the carnival week commencing there on April 4.

The Whangarei Chamber of Commerce, at its last meeting, decided to ask the borough council to consider the removal of the railway lines lying under Kamo Hoaci, and formerly leading to the old coal mine in the vicinity. The parks committee .recommended that consideration of this matr ter be held over in the meantime. Cr. H. N. James considered that the union should.be given some reason for the' decision, and the Mayor, Mr W. Jones, said that the council was only waiting to see what other applications would be received. He did not think that sole possession of No. 1 ground should be given to any code. Cr. Donaldson: It has always been understood that the council can resume No. 1 ground at any time.
