Stanley McKay’s “Gaieties”
TO-MORROW NIGHT AT THE TOWN HALL To-morrow night at the Town Hall, Whangarei, Stanley McKay’s ‘‘Gaieties” vaudeville and revue company, whose visit to the town some twelve months ago was much appreciated, is to open a short season of three nights and a matinee with the spectacular revue which has proved a brilliant success everywhere. “The Navy’s in Town.” Much thought and expense have been entailed in this revue, one of the important features being the naval scene concluding the first act, which was written and produced by Mr Geo. Greig, of the Popular Hilo Duo. Christchurch and Dunedin papers consider this offering one of the best of its kind ever staged in a vaudeville company. Mr Joe Lawman, whoso comedy work with the “Gaieties” in 1937 made him a big favourite, is again with the company. The reserves are at Laurie’s, no extra being charged for booking. A special matinee has been arranged for Friday afternoon at 3.15 p.m. when Joe Lawman is to be seen as “PopEye the Sailorman.” 577
