The Empire Games boxing contests opened at Rushcutters’ Bay Stadium to-day, with the elimination rounds. Results; —

Flyweight.—Joubert (South Africa) beat Law (Australia) on a technical knock-out; J. Gagnon (Canada) beat Cameron (Scotland), on points; H. M. S'-heridan (New Zealand), a bye. Bantamweight.—J. A. Parker (New Zealand), Bst. 6?lbs., lost to Butler (England), 8.6 i, on points; Knosem (South Africa) defeated Brade (Canada), on points. Featherweight.— Wovrall (South Africa) lost to Henricus, on points; Schuller (Australia) lost on a technical knock-out to Harper (England). Lightweight.—Deniese (Ceylon) lost to Hurst (Canada), on a technical knock-out; J. P. Collins (New Zealand), 9.8 i, lost to Fulton (Rhodesia), 9,9, on points. This was a very exciting match, but the excellent condition cf the Rhodesian tolsl in the long run, and he won a great decision. Welterweight.—Tsirindanis (Rhodesia) defeated Hahn (South Africa), on points; Dawson (Canada) lost to Smith (Australia), on points.

Middleweight.— Reardon (Wales), 11.5?, defeated A. Sutherland (New Zealand), 11.2 hon points. Sutherland was at a great disadvantage owing to bis reach, which was four inches short cf that of his opponent Despite this, however, he fought gamely. Stubbs (Australia) lost to Denis (England), on a knock-out in. the second round. WRESTLING EVENTS: The wrestling events were also held today. In the first round of the bantamweight section, T. Nolan (New Zealand) defeated Purcell (Australia), by one fall. Blake (Canada) defeated Cayaux (England), on points. In the second round, Cayaux defeated Nolan by one fall. Purcell defeated Blake by one fall.

Purchase (Australia) defeated J. F. Genet (New Zealand), by one fall in the first round for featherweights. In the final, Purchase defeated Clarke (Canada), by one fall. In the lightweight section, first round, Garrard (Australia) defeated Harding (South Africa), on points. In the second round, Garrard defeated L. Thomas (New Zealand), oh points.

In the semi-finals of the bantamweight contests, Blake beat Nolan by one fall, and Purcell boat Cayaux, on points. The result of the contest was; Purcell (Australia), 1; Blake (Canada), 2; Cayaux (England), 3.
