A Splendid Idea

Maromaku P.O. Dear Raranga, I must tell you how pleased I was to read the happy suggestion you made in your letter. Birthdays are usually a time for rejoicing, but I must say I was very disappointed when my eighteenth birthday came round. Even when I left and could no longer entercompetitions or write to our page my interest did not wane in the least. I always enjoy reading the original verses and stories submitted by Young Northlanders, and I am sure all present members of our page do not lot some well-known name leave their page without sighs of regret. Of course we know it wouldn’t be fair to younger members to stay on alter arriving at the age of eighteen. And I am sure everybody would think it a lovely idea to form a senior club. Being older we could give more help to you in any kind of campaign. Don’t you think it would be a very good idea for members of this club to write something of local interest every week or to give our ideas on certain subjects?

But I really must close now with a big thank you for such a lovely idea. ONE OF YOUR OLD MEMBERS.

[I do wish you had signed your name “old member.” Your suggestion is very good and I’m glad you like the idea of a senior club. I’d like to have some more suggestions from other exmembers. -Rl.
