For many years a porter at the Whangarel Railway Station, Mr. H. E. Robinson leaves tomorrow on transfer to Kaikohe.
Mr B. V. Rope, of Davgaville, sailed by the Mariposa from Auckland last night for San Francisco. He is combining business with pleasure on the trip.
Mr. D. Wilton, chief clerk at the Whangarei Railway Station, has received notification of his transfer to Napier at an early date. He will occupy a similar position there in the transport department. The Hon. P. Fraser, Minister of Health, who has been touring the North, in company with Dr. D. Cook, Medical Officer of Health, will return south tomorrow. It is understood that he will return to Auckland by way of Dargaville. The Whangarei Hospital Board yesterday received with regret the resignation of Miss Ethel Mitchell. For the. past 10 months she has been on the staff as a night sister. In her report to the board, the matron stated that Miss Mitchell has always displayed a high standard of efficiency. Miss Joan Lane, who received' her training in the Whangarei Hospital, was yesterday recommended by the matron to a sistership in this hospital. “A very fine nurse,” commented the chairman of the board. Mr. J. A. S. Mac Kay. In moving that the appointment be approved, Mrs. V. Donaldson also paid tribute to Miss Lane’s capabilities.
