HOSPITAL HAS TO PAY MORE FOR BUTTER
Price Of Butter Increased To Board
The Hikurangi Dairy Company, which has been supplying butter to the Whangarei Hospital Board at 1/1 15-1 fid per lb. for the contract period ending on September'l3 next, advised the board today that the price would have to be increased. “We have received advice from the office of the Director of Internal Marketing to the effect that, from December 1, all rates of butter in New Zealand are now subject to a fixation of price, and all contracts so far as price are concerned, have been cancelled under authority of the Butter Marketing Regulations, 1937, made under the Primary Produce Marketing Act, and the Agricultural Emergency Powers Act." wrote the secretary of the com- ; pany in a letter considered by the board today. 9-lfid. Increase. 1 For your information.” the letter continued, “it will be necessary for us : to charge you a price of 1/2| net f.o.r. j Whangarei, for all finest butter pur-1 chased by your board." This means that the price of butter to Ibe board will be increased by 9-16 d. “We wish to emphasise, however,” the company stated, “that this increase will not accrue to the benefit of the Hikurangi Dairy Company.” The chairman. Mr J. A, S. Mac Kay: The Hikurangi Dairy Company is supplying us at exactly the same rale as would any other dairy factory. It was decided to continue obtaining supplies from the Hikurangi Company until tho present contract expires.
