The winner of the New Zealand Tourist Trophy Motor Cycle Race, over a course of 168 miles at Waiheke Island, was Mr. L. E. Dixon, a resident of Kawakawa.
Mr A. J. Ching, clerk of the Whangarei Magistrate’s Court, is spending his vacation at McGregor’s Bay, Whangarei Harbour. He will return towards the end of the month.
Mr G. N. Morris, S.M., commenced the first round this year of the Northern Circuit today. He will preside at courts at Kawakawa, Kaeo, Mongonui and Kaitaia, and will return for the Whangarei sitting next Monday.
Mr and Mrs W. Lowe, of Auckland, who have been the guests of Mr and Mrs F. Higginson, returned to Auckland today.
A representative gathering of shipping interests, naval and merchant attended the funeral on Saturday at Wellington of the late Captain W. Olphert. The body lay in state on Friday night at the divisional headquarters of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, and from there was taken to St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral. The casket was carried by six petty officers from the Naval Reserve. —(P.A.).
