Launch Lost On Rocks At At Paihia
[■Special To “Northern Advocate ”l KAIKOHE, This Day, A 27-foot launch, owned by Mr T, W. Bolton, of Kawakawa, was lost on the rocks at Paihia during the week-end A party had been out cruising and returned at dead low water. The launch was anchored close in, just south of the jetty. When the tide came in, a heavy north-easter was blowing, which caused the anchor to drag, and the launch was driven in on the rocks a short distance up the harbour. The heavy waves soon completed the work of destruction, and the boat now is a depot of firewood for the numerous campers at Paihia, The engine and a quantity of equipment were salvaged. An estimated value of the boat was £2OO, and Mr Bolton had recently spent £7O in reno--81 vating it.
