DROWNING occurred yesterday afternoon in the Waiotahi Stream, Bobby Mcllwraith, aged 8, son of Mr and Mrs R. Mcllwraith. of the Opotiki Hotel, losing his life, says an Opotiki message. The boy was not seen to disappear, but his companions soon noticed his absence, and a search was made. The body has not yet been recovered, although the search is being continued. —Special.
Hi ffi Sit # by 'an Alsatian dog yesterday, Brian Janssen, a child living at Stokes Valley, received lacerated wounds on his left shoulder, says a Wellington message. He Was taken to hospital. The dog was destroyed.— (Press Assn.)
QHEEP worrying by dogs is again causing the authorities at Cornwall Park, Auckland, much concern and during the past week there has been a repetition of previous destructive raids on the large flock of ewes there. Last night six ewes were killed and a number injured. On Thursday night last four ewes were killed and when investigation was made 20 wounded ewes were found. —Special.
