Static In BBC News Studio
(Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, January 1. The sound of a scuffle interrupted the British Bi'oadcasting Corporation’s news summary at 10 p.m., and mystified listeners. They heard what appeared to be an argument between a number of men and then the scuffle and a shout of “Oi,” a gurgling noise, the slamming of a door and the clatter cl feet. Then came three minutes’ silence, after which the announcer said; “I must apologise. There was a slight mishap in the studio, but everything is alright now.” He then resumed the news. It was explained later that, owing to a technical error, listeners overheard a private conversation.
