U.S. VOLUNTEERS FOR CHINA’S AIR FORCE
(Received 11.30 a.m.) SHANGHAI, December 28
The second batch of American volunteers for the Chinese Air Force is en route to Hankow. Some have already arrived. They include 10 majors, who participated in the. Great War, and 90 pilots. Newspapers predict that within a few months foreign volunteers alone will make for an air force sufficiently strong to' contest Jap-
anese aerial supremacy. The Chinese are planning to train 30,000 airmen in a year, of whom onethird will be on active service in March.
The Chinese are busily preparing an ambitious counter-offensive, which will be launched in a month or two, according to official quarters. It is claimed that the morale of the troops has been restored by the arrival of reinforcements and new equipment at the various fronts. - -
