Many Happy Returns 1 To-day

Hello Everybody, ' It’s a whole two weeks since I wrote my last letter and TWO YEARS since I wrote my first le <tei to the members of the Kupe Club. Did you remember :na: it s “Many Happy returns’' this vveeki Norlhlahders? January 1 is the second birthday of our Kupe Club. How it has grown!—not only in size but in deeds. Kupe and 1 have been talking over past doings, and were proud of the fac j that there are plenty of “doings” to talk about. We’ve also been discussing the future, and gracious, if you could only hear us! Alii sorts of interesting things are to happen in 1938 if we have oar way. I’m not permitted to tell many secrets yet, Kupe is very firm about that, but there’s one idea I want to tell you about. Kupe and I, in our talks of the past two years, remembered that several of our 18-year-olds had left us, and that, to our sorrow, mare would be “growing up” during next year! It occurred to us that, these Northlanders, who still take a great interest in our Page might form a special branch of the Kupe Club—something like an Old Pupils Association. How' does the idea appeal to you, those-who-are-18? If all our plans come true, we are going to need the help of every member in our Club,, and there’s not the slightest doubj that a senior’ group would be a very special help. I shan’t go into details this week, I’d rather wait to hear what you think about the plan. So hurry and tell me please. I’m particularly keen to know your ideas. We think It’s splendid. And now I’ve several “thank yous” to say, for myself and for Kupe. First of ail, thank you for the many Chris, mas cards w r e had sent us and for the good wishes that came in Christmas letters. Kupe received a small parcel and to his amusement it contained a small kewpie doll and the mesage “From one kew'pie ?o another (Kupe).” Next, thank you Northlanders who sent me flowers. They were particularly welcome as our house looked very bare without all it’s furniture. They certainly helped to make our Christmas one of the happiest we’ve ever spent. And, Maidens, I beg of you, don’t forget the Cookery Nook this next year. You see I've a kitchen of my own now, and I’ll have a chance to try the recipes (on.Kupe of course), and I’ll need lots to keep me going, for Kupe has a simply tremendous appetite. Best wishes for a particularly happy New Yeax*, Northlanders. Cheerio till next week, Raranga Princess; Northland Tribe.
