Man Injured When Car Overturns, When a car overturned on the main road at Oakleigh at about 6 o’clock this morning, Mr Gordon James Williams, of Portland, a labourer, received a cut on the forehead which necessitated his removal to the Whangarei Public Hospital. His condition is not serious. Four other passengers in the car escaped injury.

Railway Excursion To Russell. More than 620 passengers made the trip to Russell on Sunday in the Railway Department’s excursion train from Whangarei. Eight carriages left Whangarei, but at Hikurangi it was found necessary to add another two units. At Otiria the number of passengers was so great that another five carriages were required to complete the journey, making 15 carriages altogether. The weather was perfect throughout the journey.

Sports Function At One Tree Point. Sportsmen throughout the district will gather in full, force at the One Tree Point Domain on New Year’s Day, when a full programme of events for people of all ages will be held. This initial function is being organised by the domain board to commemorate the establishment of the domain, and every endeavour has been made ensure the success of the occasion. Refreshments will be obtainable on the ground and hot water will be provided free to visitors.
