There is still a quiet tone on the local Stock Exchange, but interest is reviving in Australian securities at lower levels, and as a consequence considerable business is being putthrough on a firming market. At this morning’s call, bidding was erratic, with a large number of blanks on the buyers’ side of the list. In the banking section, Nationals of New Zealand were easier, sellers dropping to £2 16/9, without attracting a counter from buyers. Buyers for Dominion investments moved up to 19/-. The brewery section was dull, the only buyer being for New Zealands at £2 4/9.

Farmers’ Trading ordinary shares were steady at £l, and for the A. preferences, ex-dividend £1 21- was offered.

In Australian issues, Broken Hill Proprietary had fresh business at £3 2/-, with more wanted, and buyers for the rights moved up to £1 8/3. Buyers for Electrolytic Zincs advanced 1/- to £2 6/6, and for preferences remained in at £2 8/6.

G. J. Coles had a sharp rise, with business at £4 4/-, and a later market between .£4 3/9 and £4 4/-. Sandfords weakened, with sellers of the ordinaries at 5/3, and of the preferences at 15/9, with no buyers for either. At the noon call the following sales were completed:—Commercial Bank, 16/9; South British, £4 18/6; Dominion Investment. 19/3; Broken Hill Proprietary, £3 2/10; Electrolytic Zincs, £2 6/6; G. J.
