BOROUGH AND CENTENARY CELEBRATION
Apart from a short reference in the report of the Legal and Finance Committee, no reference was made at the meeting of the Whangarei Borough Council last night of the recent meeting of the Auckland Provincial Centennial Committee, which the Mayor and Cr. A. T. Brainsby attended as representing the borough. The committee’s report announced having received the following telegram from Sir Ernest Davis, Mayor of Auckland: “Would appreciate your attendance Town Hall, Auckland, for discussion with Mr Heenan, Undersecretary, Internal Affairs Depart-i mont. and myself, on provincial aspect Centennial as affecting your area, as preliminary to the evening meeting.”
No report having been received from the committee appointed by local bodies to investigate the possibility of Northland entering a separate court at the Wellington Centennial Exhibition, consideration of the matter was deferred.
, Cr. G. H. Morrish, a member of the committee, understood that further information which had been sought was now to hand, but that a meeting had not been held as yet at which this could be discussed.
