Cricket Century At Ararua
On Saturday the Maungaturnlo '.Ticket team visited Ararua the first match of the second round of the competitions. Dattiay first, Manageturoto scored 141 runs, their captain. E. Worthington scoring 103 nor out. He gave a great exhibition of clean hitting, scoring eight sixes and five fours, and batted throughout the innings for a chanceless display. The remaining ten batsmen scored only 31 runs between them. With an hour and threequarters to bat. Ararua scored runs at a very fast rate, especially in the last half hour, when each over was producing from 15 to 20 runs. G. Broomfield 78 runs, including 10 fours, maintained his consistent batting form, and for five innings with two not out scores holds an aggregate of 264 runs, with an average of 88 runs per innings. C. Canny 64 runs, including nine fours, is also in fine form this season, and in five innings, one not out, has an aggregate of 235 runs with an average of 59 runs per innings. P. Strafford, 2<i runs, also scored well and. with only one wicket down. Ararua had scored 170 runs and easily passed 11 ie visitors’ total. With a quarter of an hour left to play, the remaining Ararua batsmen went in for a hit and at stumps the score was ISO runs for eight wickets.
