Methodist Sunday School Anniversary
The Sunday School anniversary of the Whangarei Methodist Church was celebrated on Sunday last. There were three services conducted respectively by the Rev. C. C. Hoskin, Mr. W. J. Court and the Rev. O. Burnet.
Scripture recitations were rendered by Noeline Hannam, Peggy Wilson. April McKernan and Selwyn Stringer. Solos were sung by Miss Greta Farrell and Miss Joyce Griffen, and a duet by Shirley Stokes and Gwenda Simons. The kindergarten children sang two choruses during the afternoon service.
At all services the singing was led by the children, under the capable direction of Mr. Ashton Kelly, conductor, assisted by Miss K. Griffen at the organ and Mr. G. Wordsworth and Master Laurence Wordsworth on violins.
Good congregations were in attendance. and in the evening the church was almost filled to capacity. The anniversary celebrations will be concluded this evening with the annual concert anc} prize-giving.
