FRANCO NOT INTERESTED IN ARMISTICE

The Burgos correspondent of the “Daily Mail” states that General Franco says the war in Spain will end in a military triumph, not by mediation or compromise.
“I will always, refuse to- consider any ‘Red’ Government’s demand for an armistice,” he said. “Unconditional surrender is the only end acceptable to Nationalist Spain.”
The Barcelona correspondent of “The Times” says the Republican Government has agreed upon a reply to the Non-Intervention Committee, but no announcement is made of its terms. In the meanwhile, the Republicans are closely watching the results of Viscount Halifax's talks, as it is suspected that “further interests of the Spanish Democracy may be sacrificed in an endeavour to satisfy the voracity of dictators.
