"The Road Back" tells what happen-, ed in Germany after the Armistice. Universal studios had to wait five years after'the book was written fore the time was ripe to produce it for the screen. The tremendously dramatic film commenced at the Regent Theatre on Saturday night, and continues this evening and to-morrow. The story relates the adventures of returning love-hungry soldiers; the drama of the wives who waited; the sweethearts who stirred their boy friends to jealous violence, "The Road Back" shows the food riots, the feverish unrest of an entire nation surging Toward revolution. It is a processional of human emotions that grips at the soul fibres of everybody in the audience, j The cast includes 2000 players, not- j Eble among them being Barbara Read, | John King, Richard Cromwell, Slim I Summerville, Andy Devine, Louise i Fazenda and Noah Beery, ;jnr.
