N.Z. Recover Well And Beat Norfolk By Eight Wickets

(Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 24. TAKING a good recovery from their position in the first day's play at Norwich, the New Zealand cricketers beat Norfolk by eight wickets. On Wednesday the county, after leading by 43 runs, lost one wicket for 1C runs, and the second innings, which terminated this afternoon, closed for 123. Requiring 167 to win, the Dominion knocked off the runs for the loss of only two wickets. J. L. Kerr, the Canterbury player, who was run out when 93 against Notts, again made that identical score and carried his bat. New Zealand played more like a touring team should against a minor county. . / ' .

Keen Fielding. < Dunning and Weir bowled well, but many runs came from miss-hits which sped to the boundary on the far outfield. In this misfortune, fellowsufferefs were Roberts and Gallichan. The fielding was keen, run-outs resulting from fast throws-in by , Kerr and Hadlee. New Zealand scored at brisk pace against bowling which yesterday the best men were unable to handle. Kerr was brilliant, driving, jumping and gliding the speedy bowlers faultlessly. More Leg-Before Victims. Lamason was more like the player known in New Zealand. Hadlee and Weir swelled the large leg-before wickets list. ( Kerr hit 11 boundaries, , including four in one over. He appeared certain to reach the century but two balls going to the boundary for byes spoiled his chance.

t The difficulty of arranging the tour to be comprehensive and comfortable is immense. The team faces an uninterrupted sequences of playing and travelling, with many night journeys. The three days still before Saturday’s test match will be a welcome relaxation.

Roberts damaged a finger in attempting a catch, and may -not play in, the test, commencing at Lord’s on Saturday. The attendance was 3000. Scores: — NORFOLK. First Innings 165 , Second Innings. , B.
