Alleged Insurance Libel Settlement
(Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, June 24. The terms ■ of settlement in the j action for alleged libel. and slander brought by the Australian Provincial Assurance Association, Ltd., against the Colonial Mutual "Life Assurance Society, Ltd., have been disclosed. When the matter came before Acting-Justice Owen oh Tuesday, the solicitor for defendants, Mr R. C. Cook, read a notice and apology, in j which the Colonial Mutual Life As--1 surance Society, Ltd., withdrew and | repudiated all statements published in I the railway journal “Railroad,” and i expressed regret for them. In addition, the company acknowledged that the Australian Provincial I Assurance Association, Ltd., is one of the companies approved by the railway commissioners for the group issue of its employees.
